Go back to the Finder and see if "Command+delete" has return to "Move to Trash. Press Shift+Backspace, or Alt and the right arrow together.It is not exactly the same as taking you to the desktop but you can still access all the files from the desktop. You can also do the same thing on a Mac by pressing CMD + F3 or CMD + expos.

To Forward Delete, normal action of the Delete key on a PC, you have to hold down the fn key and then hit the Delete key. Windows had a quick shortcut to go to the desktop by pressing WIN+D.
Normally hitting Delete on a Mac will work as a Backspace key. The Delete key opn Mac does and doesnt act the same way as the Backspace and Delete keys on a PC. However, these stopped working a while back. The delete key is at the top right 2nd button down. I use Spotify Connect for streaming to a speaker, and the volume slider at the bottom right is not the easiest to use, so its quicker and easier to use the keyboard.
